For those of you who have loved and lost animals, you understand exactly how I felt. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of loving an animal, I know you can understand how it feels to lose someone you deeply love. This loss has been very difficult for me and I was suffering deeply.
I recently decided it was time for my suffering to end. I decided that the best way for me to end my suffering was to help end the suffering of another. I went on www.petfinder.com (that great organization that you all helped support at Primitivo over the summer) and found a cat named Sherbet through C.A.R.E. This organization doesn't have a shelter, the volunteers take the homeless animals into their own homes.
This past Sunday I went to meet Sherbet at a volunteer's home. When Sid, Chelsea the Chihuahua, and I arrived there were many animals and the place was quite hectic. I immediately met two cats who were feeling skittish from all of the dogs barking and the commotion. I then was introduced to an itty bitty kitty who walked right over into my lap, laid down, and started purring. I noticed she was having difficulty breathing so the volunteer picked her up and looked at her. When she was done, this little kitten walked right back over into my lap and resumed purring. She looked up at me and I could tell that I made her feel safe and secure. I never did meet Sherbet, I had fallen in love.
I will always keep a strong place in my heart for my dear love, Crystal. She was magnificent and I will miss her forever. But, I needed to put my energy into moving forward and I am so happy that I adopted this itty bitty kitty named Gracie. She has some health problems that need to be fixed and she weighs only 2 pounds at 5 months old, when she really should weigh at least 5 pounds. She hasn't had a charmed life, but I promise that she will now that she lives with me. I went to rescue a cat, but I think in reality we rescued each other.
